Schedule I is the most restrictive of the five schedules of the United States Controlled Substances Act. A substance is placed in Schedule I when it is held to have a high potential for abuse, no currently accepted medical use, and a lack of accepted safety for use under medical supervision. Schedule I placement sharply limits research, since studying a Schedule I substance requires special registration with the Drug Enforcement Administration. Several psychedelics documented on this wiki, including DMT, LSD, psilocybin, and 2C-B, are Schedule I substances.
