Fluoxetine was the first of the SSRIs, released in the US Dec 29 1987, and still a mainstay of treatment for many conditions ranging from anxiety disorders to OCD to PTSD to premature ejaculation. Initially touted as being effective and well-tolerated, both of those assumptions have come under serious scrutiny in more recent years.
